He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As the Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Business Partner for Wellington Metro, you’ll be the key advisor and coach for our Infrastructure team. You’ll support leaders and teams to embed safe work practices, champion wellbeing initiatives, and grow our safety culture maturity. From incident investigations to coaching on risk management and compliance, this role supports and strengthens safety leadership across the metro network.

 

You’ll use tools like the SHE Management System, ORA, PowerBI, and FELT Leadership frameworks to support local teams in their journey towards continuous safety improvement. Your insight will directly influence how we manage critical risks and ensure every person goes home safe and well, every day.

We’re looking for someone who is both a subject matter expert and a relationship builder—someone who’s committed to making a real impact through collaboration, influence, and leadership.

 

You’ll bring:

  • A Safety, Health and Wellbeing qualification (minimum NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
  • 5+ years in a generalist SHW role, ideally within rail or a high-risk environment
  • Confidence using performance tools like ORA, PowerBI and digital reporting systems
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessment frameworks
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills across all levels
  • A calm, proactive approach to solving safety challenges
  • A current NZ driver’s licence and ability to pass pre-employment screening
