He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
Your key responsibilities will be to plan, coordinate and monitor the operation and work of the engineering department to ensure that all relevant systems and equipment are cost effectively maintained in a safe and reliable condition. You will take direction from the First Engineer and be responsible for carrying out watch keeping duties, maintenance of the ship's machinery, equipment and structure.
You will ensure consistency with the principles of good marine engineering practice to maximise both the strategic and commercial objectives of Interislander, all the while being a safety leader and “walking the safety talk”.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:
Your extensive engineering management experience, strong technical knowledge and previous staff management skills will ensure your success in the role. You may also be required to act up to First Officer Engineer as required.
Your skills will include:
- MEC 2 certification
- Certificate of Competency in accordance with STCW III/2
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Sound technical knowledge
- Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (ie Amos)
