He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join our Corporate Finance function, as the current incumbent transitions into a new role within KiwiRail. This newly advertised opportunity offers the chance to step into a key position that drives the ongoing enhancement of our financial reporting frameworks.
As part of the Financial Planning & Performance Reporting team, you will build on existing platforms to support the continuous improvement of our financial processes, systems, and insights. The team plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality financial reporting to the Executive Team, the Board, and external stakeholders. Our outputs underpin strategic decision‑making across the business, and we take pride in providing accurate, timely, and insightful financial information.
Key accountabilities include:
- Production of high-quality financial reporting, modelling, analysis and advice in relation to performance of the KiwiRail Group for both internal and external stakeholders
- Liaising and working closely with the wider CFO Group as well as operating business units and support any cross functional projects
- Building excellent working relationships at all levels of the organisation
- Always upholding KiwiRail’s values, always
- Contributing towards improving the quality and efficiency of performance reporting processes and identifying opportunities to introduce new technological advancements as an enabler of this
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:
Knowledge and experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Government agency, large corporate or a professional services fiirm
- Experience in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and financial modelling
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to apply the principles of accounting standards to real life business problems
- Knowledge of and exposure to SAP or similar ERP system
- Exposure to CFISnet desirable

Qualifications
- CAANZ recognised Chartered Accountant qualification or comparable
- Bachelor Business/Commerce in Accounting, or comparable
