He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role: 

As a Senior Control Systems Networking Engineer, you will design, deliver, and support the telecommunications networks that underpin KiwiRail’s control systems. You will focus on resilient and secure networks in metro environments, lead RNIP and capital project delivery, provide advanced technical support, and mentor others across the team. Your work will support safety, operational performance, and compliance with engineering standards.

You will bring sound technical judgement, strong collaboration skills, and a considered approach to safety. 

Essential: 
• 5+ years’ experience in network engineering or administration 
• Strong knowledge of network architecture, security, and troubleshooting 
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, Modbus, BGP, OSPF, VRRP 
• Experience with tools such as Nagios and Wireshark 
• Understanding of VM technologies and safety-critical systems 
• Clear, adaptable communication skills 
• Strong organisational capability 
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience 
• Current NZ driver’s licence 

Desirable: 
• Experience in industrial or rail networking 
• Familiarity with radio systems (microwave, SCADA, voice) 
• Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCDP)
