What you’ll do

As our Senior Marine Purchasing Officer, you’ll play a critical role in managing all purchasing related activities for our Interislander business unit.  You’ll oversee vendor relationships, manage contracts, and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Key will be your coordination between marine procurement, inventory management and warehousing to optimise our supply chain processes. You’ll be required to balance long-term strategic purchasing goals with immediate operational needs and adapt purchasing strategies to rapidly changing market conditions.

What you’ll need

Your achievements will directly contribute to the Interislander ferry service operating safely, efficiently and compliantly.  Therefore, you will bring a strong customer centric attitude and an ability to make robust commercial decisions and provide expert advice to senior management and other key stakeholders. 

Your knowledge and experience will also include:

• 8+ years’ purchasing and supply chain experience which must include at least 3 years’ within the marine industry
• Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation for complex, high-value purchases
• Expertise using analytic tools for spend analysis
• Demonstrated development and implementation of purchasing strategies
• An understanding of marine industry trends, regulations and specific supply chain challenges
• An appreciation of how Interislander interacts with regulatory bodies, industry partners and government agencies
