He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the Role

The Senior Workforce Planner will work closely with key business stakeholders to develop and maintain workforce plans that align with KiwiRail’s operational goals. This role involves designing and refining workforce forecasting models, providing subject matter expertise for roster design, and optimising rostering processes. You’ll be an expert in workforce planning, ensuring the right headcount with the right skills at the right time, all while championing best practices in workforce management across KiwiRail.

 

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What You Will Bring

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Pivot and Power Query; experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools is desirable
  • Proven experience developing workforce plans, particularly from the “bottom up” in collaboration with frontline teams
  • Experience working in a unionised environment and a good understanding of workforce management processes, HRIS, and time and attendance systems
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to extract actionable insights from complex data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • A degree in Business Analytics, Human Resources, Data Science, Statistics, or a similar field (or equivalent experience in workforce planning)
  • High accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting
  • Proactive, customer-focused, and collaborative work style, with an ability to drive continuous improvement
