  • KiwiRail Holdings Limited currently have Signal Engineer positions available in Pōneke (Wellington).
  • Your ordinary hours of work will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
  • Pay range - $80,000 - $115,500 per annum.

 

What you’ll do

 

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader Signals, you’ll support KiwiRail in delivering technical excellence, continuous improvement, and satisfaction to our customers and stakeholders. You'll be responsible for assisting with engineering aspects of design work for railways infrastructure signals assets.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Producing end-to-end design solutions for signals (Interlocking, Level Crossings CBI, SSI, RRI).
  • Supporting the development of long-term asset management strategies for signals assets.
  • Providing technical advice for the maintenance and upgrade of signals assets.
  • Supporting training and supervision of junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Producing and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, standards, and instructions.

 

What you’ll need

 

You’ll have a relevant qualification in Engineering, specialising in electronics, mechatronics or similar. Important note: If you hold an overseas qualification, it must either be recognised in New Zealand or an IQA via NZQA must be provided to verify your qualification.

 

In addition you’ll have:

 

  • Proven 5+ years’ experience in Railway Signals Design.
  • Experience with scopes, scheme plans and detailed designs of signalling systems (Mainline or Metros).
  • Hands-on experience working with CAD/MicroStation.
  • Experience in Testing & Commissioning and Installation is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written with the ability to effectively present information and advice to a range of audiences.
  • Strong organisation skills to manage conflicting demands to achieve deadlines and deliver responsibilities.
