He whakamārama ot e tūranga mahi | About the role:
The Third Officer Engineer is the watchkeeper in the engine room and responsible for maintaining a safe engineering watch. You’ll oversee and assign duties to the Motorman relating to the watch. When not on watch you’ll carry out maintenance of the ship’s machinery, equipment and structure as directed by the First Officer Engineer.
Health and Safety is an important part of how KiwiRail operates. You will be a safety leader and will be expected to “walk the safety talk”.

To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A current Maritime Medical Certificate
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (STCW A-VI/1-2); Crowd Management (STCW v/2 (1))
- Proficiency Survival Craft (STCW A-VI/2-1)
- Advanced Firefighting (STCW A-VI/3)
- Current NZ work rights
